Flutter.ly, when launched, will be a citizens' tool for social progress—a social media platform designed to enable positive, apolitical change within communities of all sizes. More than just another social networking site, flutter.ly will have built-in crowd-sourcing tools to match volunteers to causes they are likely to be interested in. It will also provide a project management area to help cause organizers set and accomplish goals using a variety of web apps.
A flutter.ly project might be a local micro-cause. For example, a group of flutter.ly users living near each other could quickly band together to save a local business from getting evicted by a real estate developer (this recently happened in my city of Newburyport, MA). A project could also be much larger in scope, such as a nation-wide movement to persuade Americans to stop eating inhumanely raised meat and force the meat industry to change how it treats its animals (make it a point to watch Food, Inc. if you haven't already). It might also be individual in nature, helping a marathoner or cyclist raise money for a race.
Flutter.ly will offer an array of tools to marshal the resources of like-minded activists. A typical flutter.ly-generated web page might have a fundraising widget, a form to collect email addresses and petition signatures, a user-generated database to help consumers vote with their wallets, and an interactive map to coordinate local meetups.
Flutter.ly is currently in the conceptual stage, and we need your help to build it!

A quick note about our logo: the butterfly is a symbol of transformation and spiritual growth, and that is the essence of the flutter.ly vision.
